When Tan Mom Patricia Krentcil announced she was running for a U.S. Senate seat in Florida, many people laughed at the idea of a once controversial social media star serving in the U.S. government.

If you don’t know, Krentcil was arrested in 2012 for allegedly trying to sneak her 5-year-old daughter into a tanning salon, an accusation she was never convicted of, but her dark complexion was enough to make her an iconic internet celebrity.

Over the following 12 years, Krentcil released music videos, guested on The Howard Stern Show, and eventually de-tanned herself after overcoming her “tan dysmorphia.”

Now, Krentcil is running for a Florida Senate seat and so we thought it prudent to get down to bronze tacks with the once controversial star. Krentcil says she still isn’t sure if her 2012 arrest at a New Jersey tanning salon was "preemptive election interference" and agrees that Florida is the perfect place for aliens to set up an intergalactic colony.

Today is election day, so if you’re in Florida and planning to vote, you have the chance to do the funniest possible thing, but only if you're okay with her refusing to travel to China once she’s elected because “the flight is too long.”
